Update : 20 January 2009

On 16th Jan. 2009, the Hongkong Bar Association has revised it's Code of Conduct to extend the opportunity for the barrister to practice promotion and advertising in connection with the legal practice.

Generally speaking, advertising material conducted by any barrister should be accurate and not likely to diminish public confidence in the legal profession or the administration of justice. Subject to certain conditions, information such as the photograph, qaulification, nature of business, rates and previous involvement of cases are considered acceptable for advertising material. Special attention is drawn to the visual presentation to any barrister to appear in wig.
